Savvy Sheitels is a family-run business. It is the brainchild of Chira Dorfman AKA “Shira Savvy”. Chira has been covering her hair for more than 20 years.
She has always loved to help friends buy and care for their sheitels (Yiddish for wigs). In the summer of 2004, she started SavvySheitels.com. Chira has researched to find the most comfortable, natural looking wigs and wants to share these treasures with you.
The company expanded quickly to carry soft cotton Parkhurst hats, cotton tichels (Yiddish for scarves) and all sorts of great head coverings.

Living in the Midwestern U.S.A., Chira did not have easy access to the traditional wig salons. She now helps many women around the world who cannot get to the salons or don’t want to pay the salon prices.

Shira credits her grandfather, Shlomo Stone, o.b.m. for bequeathing to her his entrepreneurial spirit. From his humble beginnings as a watchmaker in Eastern Europe, he traveled to South Africa and started to manufacture mattresses. Mr. Stone built up his business to become one of the leading furniture companies in the country.
