Preparing Your Wig for Wearing & Putting It On
- Remove your wig from the box, bag, and/or protective hair net. Give your wig a good shake to separate the fibers and “wake up” the preset styling.
- Brush your hair off your face at the top and sides. If your hair is long, use bobby pins to keep it off your face, back at the sides, and up at the nape. Many women use a wig liner to keep their hair in place.
- Hold your wig at the sides with the woven label in back. Place it at your natural hairline and slide it on from front to back. Adjust the wig as needed so the front edge is just over your natural hairline. Use the ear tabs to center your wig from left to right.
- Tuck in any stray hairs at the front, sides and nape. Now you’re ready for styling – see our styling tips!

- Soak it in lukewarm water using a wig shampoo (or any good quality hair shampoo) for 3 to 5 minutes.
- Swish it gently, do not rub.
- After a thorough rinsing in cold water, turn the inside back in.

- Hang up or place wig on a wig stand and allow it to dry at room temperature.
- Do not comb or brush when wig is wet.
- When completely dry, simply brush or pick comb into desired style.
Caring for Your Human Hair Wig

- Squeeze the shampoo/conditioner through the hair from top to bottom.
- Rinse with warm water.
- Gently blot hair with a towel.
- Comb wet hair from the bottom to the top using gentle downward strokes one section at a time. Never begin combing at the top or middle and always comb down.

Styling Your Wig
General Tips
- Many styles need only a good shake or finger styling and they're ready to wear.
- Don't try to get every hair perfectly in place. This can make your wig look "wiggy".
- Use only fine quality wig brushes, combs and other styling accessories. They make styling easier and extend the life of your wig.
- Don't be afraid to use hair mousse or gel to achieve a certain style.
- Have fun experimenting with different looks!
Synthetic Styles
- Try the "shake and go" method. Many styles need only a good shake or finger styling and they're ready to wear.
- For tight curly or ringlet styles give the wig a vigorous shake, then gently lift and separate the curls with a pick comb or your fingers. DO NOT BRUSH.
- For wavy styles with loose curls, brush lightly with a wig styling brush or pick comb using short, lifting strokes - just enough to relax the style.
- For long curly styles use your fingers or a pick comb to gently lift and separate the curls. DO NOT BRUSH.
- For straight styles brush in long, even, gentle strokes from the crown to the ends for a smooth, sleek look.
- After each wearing, spray the ends of your wig with spray conditioner. Gently remove any tangles.
- Never expose your synthetic wig to heated styling tools such as hair dryers and curling irons or other heat sources.
Human-Hair Styles
- Always use a wide tooth or pick comb for curly styles and a wire brush for straight styles. Avoid standard brushes.
- When brushing, start at the ends and gently work your way to the roots.
- To spot-style your wig, use electric rollers on a medium setting. Only hair directly in contact with the rollers will be set.
- To completely restyle your human hair wig, we suggest taking it to your stylist. If you decide to restyle it yourself, please follow these guidelines:
- Place wig on a wig stand. Use standard or electric rollers or pin curls. We recommend using end papers.
- Remove tangles with a wire brush or wide-tooth comb.
- Pick up hair and wind on roller, smoothing ends as you go.
- Use medium setting with electric rollers or hair dryer. With hair dryer about 12" from wig, circulate heat evenly and continuously.
- Allow hair to cool before removing rollers or pin curls.
- Lightly brush or back-comb desired areas and spray with hair spray.
Coloring or Cutting Your Wig
Please Note: Once your wig has been altered in any way, we cannot accept a return or honor an exchange. Coloring or cutting your wig is at your own risk.
Shira’s Tips: Some wigs just need to have the bangs trimmed. I have tried it myself in front of a well-lit mirror or have asked a good friend to trim it for me.
- I always wear the wig when trimming bangs so I can judge the length accurately.
- I pray and gently cut (with thinning shears) under bulky areas.
I have also worn wigs for a trim at regular hair salons. They will usually trim the wig for the same price as a haircut – much less than a wigmacher.
I try to find a hairdresser that is recommended by a friend. First, I talk to them a little, to get a feeling whether they will be easy to work with.
I stress to the hairdresser that it is a wig and will not grow back. Then I ask them to leave it slightly longer than they normally would. Slightly too long is always better than slightly too short.
Dying Wigs
100% Human hair wigs usually can be dyed. It is best to let experienced professionals do the dying.
Shira’s Tips: I only use the best quality dyes on wigs. It will not grow out and you want it to last. I leave it on for a bit less time than it says on the package. Test it first on the underside of the wig on a small lock of hair.
Remember: Having a wig cut, even by a professional, is always a gamble. Once your wig has been cut or thinned, we cannot accept a return or exchange.
Storing Your Wig
Use a wig stand. It’s the best way to keep your wig from becoming tangled and soiled between wearings and it helps to maintain your wig’s style. Store your wig in a place that’s clean and away from sources of high heat, dust, and excessive humidity.
